01Health raises £11.2M to revolutionize specialist care access

Healthcare startup 01Health has secured £11.2 million in a Series A funding round. The investment, led by Gresham House Ventures, will help expand its platform for specialist care through general practitioner networks. The company aims to improve access to high-quality healthcare in local clinics. 01Health was founded in 2022 by Dr Sonia Szamocki, a former A&E doctor. Her goal was to bring specialist-level treatment, typically found in major cities, to smaller, local practices. The platform has already proven successful in dental care through its existing services, 32Co and Aerox Health.

The 01Health platform allows practices, practice groups, and dental service organisations to licence its technology for specialist treatments. This approach helps bridge gaps in healthcare access by scaling specialist care through GP networks. Investors see strong potential in its scalability, with Zixin Pan of Gresham House Ventures highlighting its ability to expand patient access to expert-led care.

Greta Anderson of Balderton Capital also praised the company’s ambition to build infrastructure for specialist healthcare delivery. The new funding will support the launch of the platform across the UK and its introduction in the US, where trials are already underway. A Head of US commercial operations has been appointed to lead this expansion. The £11.2 million investment will accelerate 01Health’s growth in the UK and its entry into the US market. The platform’s ability to integrate specialist care into local clinics could significantly improve healthcare accessibility. Trials in the US and the appointment of a dedicated commercial lead mark the next phase of its development.
