Doctors save woman's life after severe car crash injuries in Usinsk

Alena I. was rushed to Usinsk Central District Hospital with severe injuries after a car crash. Her condition was critical, with life-threatening damage requiring immediate medical intervention. Doctors acted quickly to address her multiple traumas. On arrival, Alena I. was diagnosed with a ruptured spleen, a fractured femur, and post-traumatic thrombosis. Surgeons Alexander Petrov and Yevgeny Chuchnikov performed a laparoscopic operation to remove her spleen. This was followed by stabilisation of her complex femoral fracture by traumatologist Andrei Markov, who used an external fixation device and a C-arm imaging system.

After her condition improved, she was moved from intensive care to the surgical ward. A team led by Andrei Markov and Yevgeny Samoshkin later replaced the external fixation with a system of titanium implants. Throughout her nearly month-long hospital stay, she also received anticoagulant therapy for her thrombosis and contusion.

Medical staff monitored her progress closely. By the time of her discharge, her injuries were under control, though full recovery would take much longer. Alena I. is now recovering at home. She faces a lengthy rehabilitation period and may need one more corrective procedure. Despite the severity of her injuries, doctors remain confident about her long-term outlook.
