Halle (Saale) reveals multi-year Riebeckplatz traffic redesign plan through 2029

Halle (Saale) has unveiled a detailed plan for the redesign of traffic routes around Riebeckplatz. The city presented the timeline and cost breakdown for the project on Tuesday. Work will span several years, with multiple phases scheduled from September 2026 to the end of 2029. The first phase begins in September 2026 with utility relocations, which will continue until May 2028. At the same time, the Volkmannstraße parking lot renovation will run from September 2026 to June 2027.

From February 2027 to June 2027, the Riebeckplatz North junction and Delitzscher Straße North will undergo renovation. The Volkmannstraße eastbound lane and connector road will then be worked on from June 2027 to December 2027.

Site clearance for the Future Center is planned between December 2027 and March 2028. The Magdeburger Straße renovation follows from February 2028 to June 2028. The Delitzscher Straße South renovation will take place from June 2028 to October 2028. The project will conclude with the demolition of a bridge, expected by the end of 2029. The redesign of Riebeckplatz and its surrounding traffic routes will involve extensive work over more than three years. Each phase has been carefully scheduled to minimise disruption where possible. The city has provided a clear breakdown of the timeline for all planned renovations.
