Dhar district gears up for massive polio vaccination drive with awareness rally

District authorities in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, organised a large awareness rally on Saturday ahead of a special polio vaccination day. The event aimed to boost participation in the National Pulse Polio Campaign, scheduled for Sunday. Local leaders and health workers joined to spread the message across the city. MLA Neena Vikram Verma launched the rally from Lal Bagh. The procession moved through key locations such as Mohan Talkies, Hatwara Bazaar, Anand Chowpatty, and Jawahar Marg. Participants included ASHA and USHA workers, Anganwadi staff, ANMs, nursing students, and schoolchildren, all chanting slogans to raise awareness.

District Immunisation Officer Dr. Narendra Pawaiya confirmed that preparations were thorough. Microplanning, cold chain management, and monitoring systems were already in place. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Anita Singare added that staff training and vaccine distribution had been completed.

The district targets 346,177 children aged 0-5 years for vaccination on Sunday. A total of 5,076 vaccinators and 254 supervisors will operate across 2,538 booths. Mobile teams will also visit bus stands, railway stations, and markets, while door-to-door efforts on June 29-30 will reach children who missed earlier doses. Dhar has previously exceeded 100% coverage in earlier phases of the campaign. The awareness rally highlighted the district’s commitment to eradicating polio. With extensive preparations and community involvement, authorities aim to ensure high participation in the upcoming vaccination drive. Mobile teams and door-to-door visits will help cover all eligible children.
