Free fertility consultations in Magadan spark hope for struggling couples

Anastasia Denisovna Alekseeva, a reproductive specialist from EmbryLife, held free in-person consultations in Magadan on 20–21 April 2026. Twenty-seven women from the region attended, with some seeking guidance on fertility treatments. The sessions aimed to address growing concerns about infertility in Russia. Infertility affects one in six or seven couples in the country. It is diagnosed after 12 months of unprotected intercourse for couples under 35, and after just six months for women over 35. Male factors contribute to 50–60% of cases, while female factors account for 40–50%. In 20–30% of cases, both partners have contributing issues.

Seventeen women from the Kolyma region received approval for IVF under mandatory health insurance. They will travel to St. Petersburg for the procedure, as IVF is covered for couples with a confirmed diagnosis. Five attendees were advised to undergo further examination or surgical treatment in Magadan. Five others sought advice on frozen embryo transfer.

Residents of Magadan can also access free online consultations with specialists from EmbryLife Reproduction Center in St. Petersburg. The consultations provided direct support to women in Magadan seeking fertility solutions. Approved patients will now proceed with IVF in St. Petersburg, while others will pursue additional medical evaluations. Free online services remain available for ongoing assistance.
