Woman Rescued at 3,200 Metres in Shymbulak Ski Incident

A 22-year-old woman fell ill near the Kombi-2 area of Shymbulak ski resort in Almaty. The incident took place in the Medeu District at an elevation of 3,200 metres. Emergency services were quickly alerted to the situation. Kazakhstan’s Emergency Situations Ministry (MChS) responded promptly. A rapid response team and a medical unit were sent to the scene. The woman was evacuated to the resort’s parking area for further assessment.

Earlier this year, the highest-altitude universal rescue unit in the CIS was opened at Shymbulak. Located 2,260 metres above sea level, it is designed to handle emergencies in such challenging terrain. After evacuation, the woman’s condition improved. She chose not to receive hospital treatment. The rescue operation demonstrated the effectiveness of the newly established high-altitude unit.
