Halle's Long Night of Science 2026 Unveils 70 Interactive Medical Adventures

University Medicine Halle will host the Long Night of Science on July 3, 2026. The event is a collaboration between Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the city of Halle, and local research institutions. Around 70 activities are planned for visitors of all ages. The main venue will be University Hospital Halle (Saale) at Ernst-Grube-Straße 40, though some activities may take place elsewhere. Guided tours will cover areas like the central laboratory, blood donation centre, linen and bed processing facilities, delivery ward, and radiology department.

Interactive experiences will include a three-dimensional 'astronaut training' session at the sports medicine lab. Children and teens can join 'Cast Fun for Kids' to learn about ultrasound imaging and practice resuscitation techniques. Adults can try the 'da Vinci' surgical robot, which will simulate minimally invasive procedures.

Lectures will address topics such as the dangers of germs, quality of life at the end of life, and the concept of 'brain death'. Visitors should note that construction near the hospital may disrupt traffic, with Ernst-Grube-Straße accessible only from Heideallee. The Long Night of Science offers a wide range of educational and hands-on activities. It aims to engage the public with medical and scientific research. Traffic restrictions near the hospital will be in place to manage the expected crowds.
