Berlin and Brandenburg brace for extreme 35°C heatwave this weekend

The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has issued a heat warning for Berlin and much of Brandenburg. Temperatures are expected to reach between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The German Weather Service predicts a hot weekend for the region. Densely built-up parts of Berlin may struggle more as temperatures stay high overnight.

Extreme heat poses serious health risks. Vulnerable groups include people aged 65 and over, those with preexisting conditions, infants, and young children. Symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, exhaustion, or heatstroke can occur in affected individuals. Authorities advise residents to take precautions during the heatwave. Those in high-risk categories should stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures. The warning remains in effect for Saturday.
