The North Regional Health and Wellness Center will host a series of heart-healthy cooking demos in February 2024. Each session focuses on meals that help reduce hypertension. Attendees must register in advance to join any of the events. The first demo, Meal Prep 101, takes place on Thursday, February 8, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. It will showcase crispy tuna patties, creamy tuna pasta, and stuffed sweet potatoes.
The second event, Cooking for Kids, is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This session includes veggie-filled wraps and lower-sugar Valentine cookies. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
The final demo, Hands-On Cooking, will be held on Thursday, February 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will learn to make Shakshuka, a versatile Mediterranean dish, followed by a healthier dessert.
All attendees will receive free food samples, recipe cards, and educational materials to take home. Each demo offers practical cooking tips and heart-healthy meal ideas. Registration is mandatory for all sessions. The centre aims to provide accessible, nutritious cooking guidance to the community.
