Dubai's New Surgical Training Hub Aims to Upskill 1,500 Doctors Annually

MedLab Training Institute has opened a new surgical training facility at Dubai Science Park. The centre aims to support between 1,000 and 1,500 healthcare professionals each year. It combines advanced technology with hands-on training to improve clinical skills. The facility features cadaveric training laboratories, modern audiovisual systems, and dedicated teaching spaces. Cadaveric training forms the core of its approach, helping surgeons build precision and confidence. Programmes cover specialities like orthopaedics, sports surgery, and maxillofacial procedures.

Training is led by international faculty alongside regional experts. Dr. Bilal El-Yafawi, the institute’s CEO, describes the centre as a key enabler for continuous professional development. Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, emphasises its role in enhancing clinical capability and patient care outcomes.

Over the next two to three years, MedLab plans to expand its programme portfolio. It also intends to strengthen partnerships with healthcare institutions across the region. The new facility offers both cadaveric and simulation-based medical education. Its launch marks a step toward advancing surgical training in the region. The institute expects to play a significant role in developing the skills of healthcare professionals.
