Yakutsk hosts free trial of Steplife's cutting-edge bionic knee unit

A free trial of the Steplife B5 bionic knee unit has begun in Yakutsk. Steplife and Salyut-Orto launched the programme on 5 June 2026. The event marks the start of a wider regional tour across the Far East. The trial will run for two weeks at 2 Morozov Lane in Yakutsk. The Erel Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Center will oversee daily testing sessions. Participants will assess the knee module’s reliability, functionality, and ease of use in everyday situations.

The bionic knee unit features rotational hydraulics and microprocessor control. Tests will measure patient mobility, comfort, and performance on flat ground, slopes, stairs, and during exercise. The trial is part of Steplife’s grant-funded project, supported by the Skolkovo Innovation Center’s TechnoVostok initiative.

Ivan Khudyakov, CEO of Steplife, confirmed the trial’s importance. The tour will also visit Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Chita, Blagoveshchensk, and Yakutsk.
