Germans are getting heavier—but not taller—new data reveals

The average weight of adults in Germany has risen slightly since 2017. Meanwhile, the average height has stayed almost the same. New data reveals variations across different age groups. In 2025, the average person in Germany weighs 78.3 kilograms. Men average 86.5 kilograms, while women average 69.7 kilograms. The heaviest group is adults aged 50 to 59, with an average weight of 81.3 kilograms, and the lightest is the 18 to 24 age group, at 72.5 kilograms.

The average height for all adults is 1.73 meters. Men stand at 1.79 meters on average, and women at 1.66 meters. Young adults aged 18 to 24 are the tallest, averaging 1.75 meters, while those aged 75 and older are the shortest, at 1.68 meters. Height trends have remained stable since 2017. Weight, however, has seen a small increase. These figures highlight differences between age groups and genders in Germany.
