Russia Allocates Billions for Free Medications to Vulnerable Groups
The Russian government has approved significant funding to provide free medications and medical supplies to eligible groups. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the directive, ensuring support for disabled individuals, Chernobyl survivors, and combat veterans. The allocations will also extend to other beneficiaries across the country. Under the new directive, over 1.7 billion rubles will be distributed nationwide for free pharmaceutical provisions. Each patient’s specific needs will be assessed by their treating physician. This ensures tailored support for medications, medical supplies, and therapeutic nutrition.
Sverdlovsk Oblast stands out as a major recipient in this initiative. The region will receive more than 50 million rubles, ranking third among all Russian regions with a total of 54.032 million rubles allocated. Additionally, the oblast has earmarked 10.5 billion rubles for pharmaceutical provisions in its 2026 budget. The funding will directly benefit eligible residents in Sverdlovsk Oblast and other regions. The allocations aim to cover essential medical needs as determined by healthcare professionals. The directive reinforces the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups.
