Teen Hospitalized After Drinking Gasoline While Fixing Scooter

A 16-year-old boy in Primorsky Territory was hospitalised after suffering acute gasoline poisoning. The incident occurred while he was repairing his scooter and attempted to siphon fuel from a canister using his mouth. The teenager ingested a large amount of gasoline, which caused the poisoning. After returning home, he began showing symptoms, and his family immediately called an ambulance. He was taken to hospital 3.5 hours after the incident and initially placed in intensive care.

Following emergency treatment, his condition stabilised, and he was moved to the paediatric ward. Doctors are continuing to monitor him for potential complications. Gasoline exposure can severely damage the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system, and may also lead to chemical pneumonia or respiratory failure.

The Primorsky Territory Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the case. Authorities will review the actions of local child welfare agencies and examine the boy’s living conditions. The boy remains under medical supervision while investigators assess the circumstances. The probe will determine whether any failures in oversight contributed to the incident. Authorities have not yet released further details on his current condition.
