Allegheny Health Network's Behavioral Health Institute Unveils Modern New Home

Allegheny Health Network’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute has relocated to a new, modern facility. The move was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, just ahead of its official opening on May 11. The upgrade arrives during Mental Health Awareness Month, offering patients a brighter and more supportive environment. The old building suffered from poor conditions, including unreliable heating and air conditioning. Staff described it as dark and deteriorating, making it difficult to provide adequate care. The new space, by contrast, features warm colours, inviting artwork, and a more welcoming atmosphere.

The institute’s chair, Dr. Anthony Mannarino, highlighted the positive impact the new facility will have on patients. He believes the improved setting will significantly enhance their experience. Alejandro Garcia Montijo, the vice president, added that the design fosters innovation and compassion in patient care. One standout feature is the upgraded Austin’s Playroom, donated by the Mario Lemieux Foundation. This dedicated space will provide a comforting area for children. The new location also encourages better collaboration with other health departments, streamlining care for those in need.

The institute will begin seeing patients on May 11. The modern facility replaces outdated infrastructure with a space designed for comfort and efficiency. Officials expect the improvements to create a more effective and caring environment for mental health treatment.
