Atyrau's New Rehabilitation Centre Doubles Support for Children with Disabilities

A new social rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities has officially opened in Atyrau. The facility marks a major development for the region’s social sector, where over 27,000 individuals with disabilities currently live. Its launch follows directives set by the head of state during the Fourth National Kurultai. The centre will provide comprehensive rehabilitation to children aged 3 to 18 with conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and autism spectrum disorders. Previously, around 1,100 people received annual support, but the new facility will double that capacity.

Equipped with modern technology, the centre features therapy rooms, mechanotherapy halls, sensory integration spaces, and workshops for occupational and art therapy. Up to 150 people can be accommodated at once, with services structured across six key areas: social and domestic support, medical care, psychological assistance, education, vocational training, and cultural engagement. A team of 189 specialists—including doctors, nurses, and psychologists—will deliver tailored programmes to meet the diverse needs of patients.

The centre’s opening significantly expands rehabilitation access in Atyrau. With advanced facilities and a large specialist team, it aims to improve long-term outcomes for children and families in the region. The project aligns with national efforts to strengthen support for people with disabilities.
