Augsburg's Free Outdoor Fitness Program Opens to All This Summer

Augsburg has launched a free outdoor fitness program to encourage physical activity across the city. Running from June 1 to October 2, the initiative offers classes in public green spaces for people of all ages and abilities. The program includes around 150 sessions, ranging from gentle yoga and back exercises to high-intensity workouts. Qualified instructors lead each class, ensuring beginners feel welcome. No registration is needed, making it easy for anyone to join.

Eight municipal parks will host the sessions, providing accessible fitness options throughout Augsburg. Organisers have also introduced new low-intensity morning classes for older adults, available from Tuesday to Thursday. The initiative is a joint effort by Augsburg’s Public Health Department, Gesundheitsregionplus, and Techniker Krankenkasse. Their goal is to make exercise more inclusive and help residents stay active during the summer months.

The free program runs until early October, with classes designed for different fitness levels. By removing barriers like cost and registration, the city hopes to attract a wider range of participants. Full details on locations and schedules are available through the organisers.
