Banner Health Upgrades to da Vinci 5 for Smarter, Safer Surgeries

Banner Health is upgrading its surgical robotics systems to the advanced da Vinci 5 platform. The move aims to improve precision, efficiency, and patient recovery across its hospitals. The technology will serve communities in Northern Colorado, Arizona, and Wyoming.

The new da Vinci 5 system offers sharper image resolution and more precise instrument control. Surgeons will also benefit from performance analytics and telepresence features, allowing real-time observation of procedures across multiple states. This is expected to improve collaboration and standardise care practices.

Dr. Nirav Patel, medical director for surgical and procedural services, highlighted the system's ability to enhance safety and consistency. Certain procedures could become up to 20 percent more efficient, potentially reducing hospital stays for patients in cities like Fort Collins, Loveland, and Greeley.

Todd Werner, president of care delivery for Banner Health, stated that the investment aligns with the organisation's nonprofit mission. Earnings are being reinvested to advance patient care and innovation. The upgrade will support Banner's 32 hospitals nationwide, including five in Northern Colorado.

The da Vinci 5 system is one of the most advanced robotic-assisted surgical platforms available. Its introduction will expand access to high-quality care for patients in Banner Health's network. The technology is set to improve outcomes through greater precision and shorter recovery times.
