Numerous Reports of Nursing Care Deficiencies at Complaint Hotline - Bavaria's Nursing Home Hotline Exposes 2,000+ Care Facility Complaints

A central hotline for reporting issues in Bavarian nursing homes has received over 3,600 calls since its launch in March 2022. The service, introduced after widespread care scandals raised concerns about standards in residential facilities, offers professional assessments and advice on care-related problems. It operates Monday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Fridays until noon, with calls free of charge at 09621/9669660.

Over the past four years, nearly 2,000 complaints have targeted specific care facilities. Issues reported include understaffing, poorly qualified workers, and failures in basic care. Multiple calls about the same location have helped authorities identify systemic problems and take faster action.

In addition to facility complaints, the hotline handles around 1,400 general information requests and nearly 200 broader concerns about the healthcare system. Call volumes rose by 15% in 2025 compared to the previous year.

The service was created as a direct response to past care scandals. While exact figures on inspections or regulatory actions remain undisclosed, the hotline continues to play a key role in monitoring standards across Bavaria's nursing homes.

The hotline remains a free and accessible resource for reporting care concerns. Its growing use reflects ongoing efforts to improve oversight in Bavarian nursing homes. Authorities continue to rely on public reports to address deficiencies and enforce compliance.
