Pharmacy Protest Day

Yesterday, thousands of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants took to the streets to vocally demand fair and sustainable reimbursement rates. "I'm absolutely thrilled," declared Anke Rüdinger, chair of the Berlin Pharmacists' Association (BAV). While organizers had spent weeks making calls, holding discussions, and rallying support, she admitted there was always uncertainty about whether their efforts would pay off. "It was incredible to see the Potsdamer Platz gradually turn white with so many lab coats gathering before the march began," she said.

Though no officials from the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) appeared during the protest stop outside their building, Rüdinger is confident their message was heard. "Nina Warken [editor of Pharmazeutische Zeitung] will have taken notice." The demonstration and rally at the Red Town Hall drew significant attention. "These are images that will stay with me—just like in 2023—but today, we truly outdid ourselves," Rüdinger remarked.
