Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh has issued new directives to strengthen maternal and neonatal healthcare in the district. His instructions cover antenatal care, disease control, and the use of technology to reduce medical errors. Officials have also reported progress under the HOPE programme for senior care.
During a recent review, Singh ordered health officials to boost Antenatal Care (ANC) registrations and prioritise high-risk pregnancies. He stressed the need for timely referrals and safe delivery services to prevent complications. A death audit system was also mandated to examine maternal and neonatal fatalities, particularly in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU).
Strict disease control measures were another focus. Singh directed hospitals to follow a checklist in operation theatres and labour rooms. He proposed adopting AI-based tools to improve hygiene and cut down on human mistakes, though such technology remains rare in Madhya Pradesh.
Feedback on vaccination awareness was another requirement. Meanwhile, the HOPE programme for senior care has identified 902 patients for home-based treatment. Nursing officers have already assisted 560 senior individuals, with scheduled visits on the 7th, 14th, and 21st days of carecredit.
The new measures aim to reduce maternal and neonatal deaths through better monitoring and disease control. Home-based senior care under the HOPE programme continues to expand, with regular visits for seriously ill patients. Hospitals must now comply with stricter protocols, though AI adoption for disease control is still in early stages.
