Bianca Rommelfangen named permanent head of Berlin's Humboldt Hospital pharmacy
Bianca Rommelfangen has taken over as the new head of pharmacy at Berlin's Humboldt Hospital. She brings years of experience to the role, having worked her way up from deputy director to interim leader. Her appointment follows a long career dedicated to clinical pharmaceutical care within the hospital system.
Rommelfangen first joined the hospital pharmacy full-time in 2017 after studying at the University of Freiburg. By 2021, she had been promoted to deputy director, and in early 2024, she stepped in as interim head. Her leadership now becomes permanent.
The pharmacy at Humboldt Hospital manages a vast inventory of around 2,300 different medications and medical products. The team also compounds specialized treatments in-house, including cancer therapies, dermatological ointments, and pediatric drugs. Additionally, the pharmacy at Vivantes Klinikum Neukölln supplies medications to seven Vivantes hospitals across Berlin.
Looking ahead, Rommelfangen plans to launch a pilot project with her team. The initiative will focus on analyzing high-risk medications for patients with impaired kidney function. She has expressed enthusiasm for continuing to deliver high-quality clinical care in her new position.
With her promotion now official, Rommelfangen will oversee a team responsible for critical medication services. The pilot project on high-risk drugs marks one of her first major steps in this leadership role. The hospital expects her expertise to further strengthen pharmaceutical care for patients.
