Braunschweig’s lantern procession shines light on children’s hospice care
A lantern procession will take place in Braunschweig on February 10 to raise awareness for children’s hospice care. Organised by Löwenherz and SONne mobile hospice service, the main event starts at 5 p.m. at the Schloss-Arkaden shopping centre. Everyone with a lantern is welcome to join in spontaneously.
The procession marks Children’s Hospice Care Day, an initiative to highlight the struggles of young people with life-limiting illnesses. Löwenherz, a Braunschweig-based children’s hospice support centre, was founded in 2003 to provide care and assistance to affected families.
Organisers Tobias Capelle from Löwenherz and Carina Poßberg from SONne hope the event will encourage more people to engage with children’s hospice services. They also aim to break the silence around death and dying in children and adolescents.
The lantern procession seeks to give visibility to families facing life-limiting conditions in young people. By bringing the community together, the event aims to foster understanding and support for children’s hospice care. Attendees can join without prior registration, simply by bringing a lantern.
