China Nears Approval of LNZ100 Eye Drops for Presbyopia Treatment

A new eye drop for presbyopia, LNZ100, is moving closer to approval in China. The treatment, already available in the US, was submitted for review in September 2025, with a decision expected by early 2027. Everest Medicines now holds the rights to bring the drug to Greater China after securing a deal with Corxel Pharmaceuticals. Presbyopia is a common age-related condition that makes it harder to focus on nearby objects. LNZ100, a once-daily prescription eye drop, uses aceclidine to shrink the pupil. This creates a pinhole effect, sharpening near vision for those affected.

The drug was approved in the US in July 2025 and launched three months later. In China, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) accepted its New Drug Application (NDA) based on results from a local Phase 3 trial. Everest Medicines acquired the rights to develop, manufacture, and sell LNZ100 in Greater China, agreeing to an upfront payment and potential milestone fees. Corxel Pharmaceuticals’ CEO, Sandy Mou, praised Everest’s ability to commercialise the treatment. Meanwhile, Everest’s Chairman, Yifang Wu, highlighted the drug’s strong market potential in addressing presbyopia.

If approved, LNZ100 will offer a daily eye drop option for millions dealing with age-related vision decline. The NMPA’s decision is due in early 2027, following a review process that began in late 2025. Everest Medicines will handle production and distribution across Greater China.
