Dhaka University launches free health camp for arts faculty members
A two-day medical camp for Dhaka University's arts faculty began this week at the Shaheed Mofazzal Haider Chowdhury conference room. The event, organised by the Faculty of Arts with support from the Popular Diagnostic Centre, offered free health check-ups to teaching staff. Senior university officials attended the opening day to show their support.
On the first day, teachers from various arts departments received free medical examinations. The camp aimed to provide accessible healthcare for faculty members within the university.
High-ranking university representatives visited the camp separately. Vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, pro-vice chancellor (administration) Professor Saima Haque Bidisha, and treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury each took time to observe the proceedings.
Key faculty figures were also present. These included Arts Faculty dean Professor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, former dean Professor Sadrul Amin, and camp coordinator Professor MA Kausar. Other teachers from the faculty joined them in supporting the initiative.
The medical camp continues for a second day, offering further check-ups to eligible staff. While participation numbers remain unreported, the event highlights ongoing efforts to improve faculty welfare. The Faculty of Arts and Popular Diagnostic Centre collaborated to make the services available on campus.
