A 36-year-old woman in Valencia is under investigation for carrying out over 180 unauthorised cosmetic treatments. Authorities launched Operation Zubar after uncovering illegal procedures, including Botox injections and lip fillers, at multiple unlicensed clinics. The suspect, who falsely presented herself as a doctor, now faces serious criminal charges.
The woman, a dental school graduate with no medical licence, performed treatments such as botulinum toxin injections, cheek enhancements, and lip augmentations. She advertised her services on social media and operated from at least 12 unregistered clinics, as well as her own home across Valencia province.
During the investigation, officers found that many of the facilities lacked the mandatory Permiso U48 administrative licence. Some locations had no proper refrigeration for products or safe waste disposal systems. The Civil Guard also discovered that the botulinum toxin used could not be traced, raising suspicions of illegal sourcing and improper handling.
Health authorities have stressed that only licensed aesthetic medicine specialists are legally permitted to carry out such procedures. Poorly administered treatments or contaminated products can lead to severe complications, including life-threatening risks.
The suspect now faces charges of professional intrusiveness, endangering public health, and document forgery. The Civil Guard has warned the public to always verify the qualifications of practitioners before undergoing cosmetic treatments. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the illegal operations uncovered in Operation Zubar.
