Southeast Community Center Groundbreaking Set for June 10

Fort Collins Breaks Ground on Visionary Southeast Community Center June 10

A groundbreaking ceremony for Fort Collins’ new Southeast Community Center will take place on June 10, 2023. The event marks the start of a major project designed to serve one of the city’s fastest-growing areas. Attendees can expect live music, refreshments, and family-friendly activities during the celebration. The ceremony will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at 5400 Ziegler Road. Speakers include City Manager Kelly DiMartino, Councilmember Josh Fudge, and Poudre Libraries Executive Director Diane Lapierre. They will outline the center’s vision, sustainability plans, and flexible design for future needs.

The new facility will combine recreation, education, wellness, and community services in one location. Inside, visitors will find fitness areas, an indoor walking track, studio spaces, and a library with study rooms. Children’s play zones and adaptable meeting spaces will also be available. Outdoor features include aquatics facilities with a lazy river, programming spaces, and natural areas. Innovation hubs for technology, arts, and crafts will encourage creative learning. The Poudre Libraries mobile unit will be on-site during the event, alongside the city’s recreation mascot. Designed to evolve with the community, the center aims to meet the changing needs of future generations. Its adaptive layout ensures long-term usability for residents in southeast Fort Collins.

The Southeast Community Center will bring together recreation, learning, and wellness under one roof. Construction follows years of planning to support the area’s growth. Once complete, the facility will offer year-round activities for all ages.
