He had to undergo emergency surgery - Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt undergoes emergency surgery for infected wound from 2019 crash

Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, 82, has undergone emergency surgery after an old injury from a 2019 car crash in Thailand became severely infected. Doctors acted quickly to treat the wound, which had reopened and posed a serious risk to his health.

The infection began when a wound from the 2019 Phuket accident reopened while Prinz von Anhalt was filming a reality show in Donaueschingen. Noticing the issue, he was immediately taken by ambulance to a hospital in Waldshut-Tiengen.

The condition worsened rapidly, prompting an urgent transfer to Donaueschingen for surgery. Physicians discovered a large build-up of pus and embedded dirt in the wound. Dr. Andreas Dorow, the treating doctor, confirmed that the infection had become life-threatening without intervention.

Surgeons performed an emergency operation on Wednesday to clean the wound thoroughly. The procedure was critical to stopping the infection from reaching the bone, which could have led to far more severe complications.

The surgery successfully removed the infection, though details about Prinz von Anhalt's recovery time remain unclear. Medical staff have not confirmed how long he was monitored at home before the hospitalisation. His condition is now stable following the urgent treatment.
