A free public lecture on the electronic health record (EHR) will take place in Neuwied on April 15. The event, titled 'The Electronic Health Record (EHR) – Taking Control of Your Health', aims to help people understand and manage their digital health data. Registration is requested, though admission comes at no cost. The lecture begins at 5:30 PM in the Amalie-Raiffeisen Hall at vhs Neuwied, Heddesdorfer Straße 33. Organised by the Neuwied Adult Education Center, it will cover how the EHR works, its main features, and how it can simplify doctor visits. Attendees will learn how to store test results, X-rays, medical reports, and medication plans directly on their smartphones.
Despite the benefits, many people remain hesitant. A Forsa survey found that 71% of respondents do not use their EHR at all, while 75% have never explored it in detail. Common concerns include doubts about its usefulness, worries over data privacy, and confusion about how it functions. The event seeks to address these issues by clarifying how users retain full control over which healthcare providers access their information and how long it stays stored. Previous events on the EHR, such as those by DRK Gütersloh, have typically drawn between 8 and 25 participants. The Neuwied lecture follows a similar format, offering practical guidance to help attendees manage their health data with confidence.
The session is open to anyone interested in learning more about the EHR. By providing clear information, the organisers hope to reduce uncertainties and encourage more people to use the system. Attendees will leave with the knowledge to handle their medical records securely and independently.
