Garmin has launched an AI-powered nutrition tracker as part of its Garmin Connect app. The new feature uses image recognition to log meals and monitor calorie and nutrient intake. It was first unveiled at CES 2026 in Las Vegas earlier this year.

The tool allows users to track their diet by taking photos of their meals. The AI system identifies dishes—such as grilled salmon and vegetables—using a large food database. However, it may not always measure portion sizes perfectly, so manual adjustments are possible for better accuracy.

Subscribers to Garmin Connect+ can access the feature for $6.99 per month. It provides detailed reports on calorie targets and actual consumption. Users can also log nutritional data directly via compatible Garmin smartwatches using voice commands.

Garmin announced the feature in early January, but as of mid-February 2026, no public data exists on how many users have adopted it.

The nutrition tracker adds another layer of health monitoring for Garmin users. It combines AI technology with manual controls to improve dietary tracking. The feature is now available to all Garmin Connect+ subscribers.
