Leyte's free circumcision drive combines health care with child protection education

A free circumcision drive called Circum-Mission: Oplan Tuli was held in Leyte over the weekend. Organised by the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 8, the event also included an information campaign for parents on child protection laws. At least 59 young individuals received the procedure during the initiative.

The activity took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Battalion Headquarters in Barangay Pinamopoan, Capoocan, Leyte. Alongside the medical services, police personnel led discussions on Republic Act 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act, and Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

Lieutenant Colonel Dionesio Maestre Jr., acting force commander, thanked the medical teams and stakeholders for their support. RMFB 8 also acknowledged the contributions of local officials, medical practitioners, and the Police Regional Office 8 in making the event successful. PNP chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. later commended the Leyte police for the initiative. He highlighted the PNP’s ongoing commitment to youth-focused programmes across the region.

The event provided free medical services while raising awareness of key protection laws. Both the police and community partners worked together to ensure its success. The initiative reflects broader efforts to support young people in Leyte through health and education programmes.
