Man suffers heart attack at Bremen Central Station, emergency teams respond swiftly

A 68-year-old man suffered a heart attack at Bremen Central Station on Friday evening. The incident triggered a swift emergency response, with federal police and medical teams rushing to the scene. Train services on two tracks were temporarily halted as rescue efforts unfolded.

The man collapsed on the platform, striking his head and bleeding heavily from his nose before losing consciousness. Federal police officers from the Mobile Control and Surveillance Team (MKÜ) were nearby and immediately began chest compressions and rescue breathing. They also used a defibrillator multiple times in an attempt to stabilise him.

A plainclothes federal investigator, who was also a trained first responder, joined the officers in assisting the man. The rescue operation lasted around 20 minutes before paramedics and an emergency doctor took over. During this time, the platform was cleared, and privacy screens were set up to shield the scene. Train traffic on tracks 7 and 8 was suspended from 10:08 p.m. to 10:59 p.m. to allow emergency services to work. The man briefly regained consciousness at the station before being rushed to a Bremen hospital in a life-threatening condition. Deutsche Bahn security and other emergency personnel also supported the operation, though no specific figures were available on how many people received medical attention during the incident.

The man remains in hospital after the severe medical emergency. The quick intervention of federal police and medical teams ensured he received immediate care. Train services resumed once the situation was under control and the platform was cleared.
