New Life Shelter Opens to Support Young Mothers in Crisis
A new crisis shelter named New Life has opened in the Sysert District of Sverdlovsk Region. Located at Branch No. 2 of the Children’s Home, it aims to support young mothers and their children during difficult times. The project is part of wider regional efforts to protect motherhood and childhood.
The shelter was launched by the Sverdlovsk Region’s Ministry of Social Policy in partnership with the Strong Generation nonprofit organisation. Funding came from donors at the 15th Yekaterinburg Assembly.
Designed for underage mothers or those separated from their children, the facility can house up to four families at once. This allows mothers and children to stay together, preserving their bond. The average stay lasts around six months. Beyond accommodation, the shelter provides free legal, psychological, and social assistance. Specialists work closely with the mothers to address their challenges and prepare them for independent living. The project builds on the region’s ongoing work to help families in crisis.
The New Life shelter offers both immediate support and long-term guidance for young mothers. Its services aim to stabilise families and help them transition to self-sufficiency. The initiative reflects the region’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable parents and children.
