Nizhny Novgorod kicks off 2026 with a lifesaving blood donation drive

Nizhny Novgorod has launched its initial blood donation drive of 2026 in the Sormovo District. The event, held at Burvestnik Square, saw 38 participants contribute over 20 litres of blood. Organisers included the Red Crescent Society of Russia and local health authorities.

The mobile donation unit was stationed at Burvestnik Square for the event. Regular donors from the Sormovo District, including employees of the local administration, were among those who took part.

Anyone aged 18 or older can donate blood, provided they pass a pre-donation medical check. The drive was part of ongoing efforts by the Red Crescent Society of Russia to maintain blood supplies in the region. Residents looking to participate in future drives can find details on the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Blood Center’s website, named after N.Ya. Klimova. Updates are also shared through the local blood transfusion station and the regional health department’s official channels.

The donation drive collected more than 20 litres of blood, supporting local medical needs. Further events will be announced through official platforms, ensuring continued opportunities for residents to contribute. The initiative relies on community involvement to sustain blood reserves in the region.
