Botox and Co. - Minimally invasive procedures increasingly popular - Non-surgical cosmetic treatments surge as younger adults lead the trend
Cosmetic treatments are shifting towards quicker, less invasive options. Nearly two-thirds of all procedures now fall into this category, with younger adults driving much of the growth. Social media and beauty chains are playing a key role in this trend, especially for treatments like lip fillers and Botox.
Over the past five years, demand for non-surgical cosmetic treatments has risen sharply in Germany. Growth rates have reached up to 35%, with women aged 25 to 45 seeing increases of 40%. Men, too, are seeking these procedures in growing numbers—over 50% more than before. Cities like Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg have seen the highest uptake.
Botox remains the most popular procedure, followed by hyaluronic acid fillers, eyelid surgery, liposuction, and breast augmentation. Lip augmentation, in particular, has surged among young women. Many of these treatments require no surgery and involve minimal downtime. Despite the popularity, not everyone qualifies. Around one in three doctors turns away between 6% and 10% of patients. The main reason is unrealistic expectations about results. Still, the market shows no signs of slowing. Projections suggest a 16% rise in minimally invasive treatments by 2025 compared to 2024.
The cosmetic industry is adapting to a preference for faster, less intrusive procedures. Younger patients are leading the change, influenced by social media and accessibility. With demand continuing to climb, clinics and practitioners are preparing for further growth in the coming years.
