Northern Kentucky Health Department's 2024 Report Highlights Community Impact
The Northern Kentucky Health Department has released its 2024 activity report, showing a wide range of public health efforts. Over the year, the department expanded access to food safety, smoking cessation support, and nutritional assistance across the region. Food safety remained a top priority, with inspectors checking nearly 1,700 permanent food establishments. They also reviewed 700 temporary booths at local fairs and festivals to ensure hygiene standards were met.
The department’s health centres served over 14,700 residents in 2024. Services included routine check-ups, vaccinations, and health education. Another key initiative was the distribution of 843 nicotine replacement vouchers to help people quit smoking.
Support for families continued through the WIC program, which provided nutritious food to eligible mothers, infants, and young children. The scheme aimed to improve diets and reduce food insecurity in vulnerable households. The report highlights the department’s focus on prevention and community well-being. Inspections, health services, and nutrition programs reached thousands of residents last year. Officials have not yet announced plans for 2025.
