Off-Duty Police Save Choking Toddler in Dramatic Alicante Rescue

Two off-duty National Police officers have saved the life of a three-year-old boy in Alicante. The child was unresponsive and struggling to breathe when the officers stepped in. Their quick action revived him before he was rushed to Hospital Universitario de San Juan de Alicante for further care.

The incident began when the officers spotted a distressed mother holding her limp child. The boy's lips were blue, and he showed no signs of response. His airway was blocked by a severely swollen tongue, making it impossible for him to breathe properly.

Without hesitation, the officers performed emergency airway clearance manoeuvres. Within minutes, the child began breathing again and regained consciousness. Paramedics then transported both the boy and his mother to Hospital Universitario de San Juan de Alicante for observation.

Hospital Universitario de San Juan de Alicante, a major medical centre linked to Miguel Hernández University, specialises in areas such as medicine, surgery, and emergency care, ensuring the child received immediate attention upon arrival.

The boy's condition stabilised after the officers' intervention. He was kept under observation at the hospital's paediatric unit. The quick response of the officers prevented a potentially fatal outcome.
