Qatar Red Crescent delivers lifesaving food aid to thousands during Ramadan 2025

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a series of food distribution campaigns across multiple countries during Ramadan. Efforts include providing meals and parcels to thousands of vulnerable families, from Gaza to Tanzania. Local Red Cross and Red Crescent branches are assisting in the delivery of aid to those in need.

In Gaza, QRCS has distributed 17,833 food parcels to displaced families, costing a total of USD 1,850,000. The organisation is also running its On-the-go Ramadan Iftar initiative at Katara Cultural Village in Qatar, serving 350 meals daily. By the end of Ramadan 1447 AH, the project will have provided 10,150 meals.

In Somalia's Northeast State, 1,951 one-month food parcels were delivered to 10,806 people in Laascaanood. Recipients included 210 patients with respiratory illnesses and 690 individuals with disabilities. The operation, valued at USD 184,931, aimed to support families struggling with food insecurity.

Afghanistan's Paktika and Zabul provinces received 764 food parcels, with another 400 planned for distribution soon. The total of 1,164 parcels, funded by QAR 700,000, targets poor families in remote areas. QRCS worked alongside the Afghan Red Crescent Society to ensure aid reached those most affected by poverty.

In Tanzania, 168 families in the Dar es Salaam region received food parcels, benefiting 1,176 people. The distribution was carried out in partnership with the Tanzania Red Cross Society. Meanwhile, in Chad, QRCS collaborated with Organisation Medicale Tchadienne and the Red Cross of Chad to provide parcels to 160 families, supporting 1,280 individuals.

Albania is also part of the initiative, with preparations underway to distribute 500 Ramadan food parcels. The Albanian Red Cross will deliver the aid to 2,000 vulnerable people across the country.

The campaigns span multiple regions, from conflict zones to urban centres, delivering essential food supplies to tens of thousands. QRCS and its partners continue to expand their reach, though exact figures for the 2025 Ramadan campaign's global impact remain unconfirmed. The focus remains on supporting displaced, disabled, and low-income families during the holy month.
