Ricarda Lang's bold reinvention: From politics to purpose and 40 kilos lighter
Ricarda Lang has undergone a significant personal transformation since leaving her role as Green Party co-chair in November 2024. The former politician has lost 40 kilograms, changed her lifestyle, and shifted her focus to writing and public speaking. She now describes this period as one of self-discovery and newfound confidence.
Lang resigned from the Green Party leadership in late 2024, a decision she does not regret. Since then, she has turned her attention to new projects, including co-authoring a book with sociologist Steffen Mau. Titled Der große Umbruch (The Great Upheaval), it explores political and social conflicts, crises, and the need for compromise. Alongside writing, she has appeared at public events to discuss these themes.
Her personal life has also seen significant changes. Over the past 18 months, she lost 40 kilograms through discipline and a shift in habits. Her diet changed without rigid rules, and she took up strength training, growing to appreciate her body for its capabilities. The weight loss was so pronounced that her old clothes no longer fit. She aims to lose another ten kilograms but emphasises that the process demands commitment.
Beyond fitness, Lang completed her law degree and got married. She now speaks openly about feeling more like herself than ever before. No longer shaped by others' expectations, she defines her own path—whether in her career, health, or personal identity.
Lang's departure from politics marked the start of a new chapter. She has reshaped her body, career, and mindset, embracing strength in all its forms. Her book, public appearances, and personal milestones reflect a life now lived on her own terms.
