Russian Doctor Reveals Surprising Benefits of Pork Fat for Cholesterol

People with high cholesterol don't necessarily have to cut pork fat out of their diet entirely—small amounts of this product may still be acceptable.

Dr. Alexander Myasnikov, a physician and TV host, explained on the About the Most Important program on Russia 1 that those with elevated cholesterol levels are not forbidden from eating pork fat, as it contains essential amino acids.

The episode is available for viewing on the Smotrim streaming platform.

The expert emphasized that this only applies to modest portions: overindulging in pork fat is still off the table, but moderate consumption can be part of a balanced diet. According to Myasnikov, the product contains certain bioactive compounds that help boost levels of "good" HDL cholesterol.

"There are even specific bioactive substances in it that increase good cholesterol," the doctor clarified.
