Stryker's Synchfix EVT revolutionizes ankle injury treatment with knotless design
Stryker has launched Synchfix EVT, a next-generation device for treating ankle syndesmosis injuries. The system is designed to simplify surgical procedures while offering flexible, knotless stabilisation. It was recently showcased at the 2026 American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Annual Meeting.
The Synchfix EVT builds on Stryker's earlier syndesmotic fixation technology, first introduced in 2012 during a clinical study at University Hospital Zurich. That study, led by Prof. Dr. Martin C. Jordan, marked the initial use of the original Synchfix system.
This latest version features an all-in-one design with integrated suture tensioning handles. Surgeons can deploy the implant single-handedly, reducing procedural complexity. The device includes a low-profile titanium medial implant and has earned a Red Dot Design Award for its innovation.
Intended for soft tissue and bone fixation, Synchfix EVT stabilises ankle syndesmosis disruptions, with or without fractures. It is the first flexible fixation device approved for adolescent use. As a sterile, single-use system, it eliminates the need for knots while maintaining flexibility.
Stryker, a global leader in medical technologies, develops products that impact over 150 million patients annually. The company focuses on improving healthcare through advanced solutions like Synchfix EVT.
Synchfix EVT offers a streamlined approach to ankle stabilisation, combining ease of use with flexible fixation. Its approval for adolescent patients and award-winning design expand treatment options for syndesmotic injuries. The device is now available for clinical use following its debut at ACFAS 2026.
