Two Philippine Army trainees die from heat stroke during rigorous exercises

Two aspiring soldiers have died during military training in Capas, Tarlac. Johndyl Lemosniro and Junel Flores both suffered severe health complications after intense physical exertion in extreme heat. The Philippine Army has since expressed its sympathy to the families of the deceased. The incident began when the trainees showed symptoms of distress during their exercises. They were quickly taken to the O'Donnell Medical Treatment Facility (CODMTF) for urgent care. Medical staff performed endotracheal intubation to secure their airways and assist breathing.

Both men were later transferred to Tarlac Provincial Hospital for advanced treatment. Despite efforts, they succumbed to brain complications and swelling—known as encephalopathy—caused by severe heat stroke.

Lemosniro, from New Corella, Davao del Norte, and Flores, from Lamitan City, Basilan, had been undergoing rigorous military instruction. The Philippine Army has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, health, and safety of all trainees. Stringent safety policies, medical protocols, and precautionary measures remain in place to prevent such incidents. The deaths of Lemosniro and Flores highlight the risks of extreme physical training in high temperatures. The Philippine Army continues to enforce safety measures while extending support to the families affected by the tragedy. An investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing.
