Why Natural Red Caviar Beats Artificial—And the Risks You Didn't Know

Natural red caviar is well-known for its rich nutritional profile, offering omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and essential vitamins. However, artificial alternatives provide none of these benefits and may even cause digestive problems. Rustem Sadykov, a gastroenterologist and dietitian, has highlighted the stark differences between the two. Sadykov explains that natural red caviar contains vital nutrients like vitamins A and D, B vitamins, phosphorus, and iron. These components support overall health, particularly heart and brain function. In contrast, artificial caviar is made from a gelatin-starch mixture loaded with dyes, flavour enhancers, and stabilisers.

The body processes imitation caviar differently, turning it into empty calories. High doses of food dyes in these products can irritate the gastrointestinal lining, leading to discomfort. Thickeners and stabilisers may also cause bloating, heaviness, and other digestive issues. Sadykov stresses that artificial caviar creates a misleading impression of being healthy. Instead, he suggests more affordable and nutritious alternatives like pollock, capelin, or pike caviar. These options retain the benefits of natural caviar without the risks of artificial additives.

The gap between natural and artificial caviar is significant in terms of health impact. While natural caviar delivers essential nutrients, imitation versions offer no real value and may harm digestion. For those seeking a budget-friendly yet healthy choice, alternatives like pollock or capelin caviar provide a better solution.
