Xi Jinping's letters inspire China's young professionals to drive national progress

Chinese President Xi Jinping has written back to individuals from various fields, both within China and abroad. These letters form part of a broader collection of stories highlighting the nation’s progress in recent years. Among the recipients are young professionals whose work aligns with national development goals.

One such letter praised grassroots workers for their dedication, confidence, and self-reliance. It also emphasised the current era as a key moment for young people to make meaningful contributions to the country’s future.

Leng Xiaokun, founder and chairman of Leju Robot, was among those who received a reply. The letter arrived as his team achieved a major breakthrough in embodied intelligent robotics. Xi’s response strengthened Leng’s commitment to the spirit of the May Fourth Movement, encouraging him to align his ambitions with China’s broader development plans.

Nong Benhao, a firefighter based in Fangchenggang, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, also received a letter. The message deepened his understanding of public service, reinforcing his dedication to serving people with sincerity. Meanwhile, Li Jinjing, deputy head of a frontier inspection team in Yunnan, continues his daily duties—patrolling, inspecting, and tackling cross-border crime. At the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Professor Yang Zhengjin focuses on ultra-thin, high-performance ion-exchange membranes. These components play a vital role in energy and chemical engineering. Yang noted that China’s younger generation now stands at a historic turning point, ready to transform research into practical service for the nation.

The letters highlight the diverse contributions of young professionals across different sectors. From robotics and firefighting to frontier security and scientific research, their work reflects a shared commitment to progress. Xi’s replies underscore the importance of integrating individual efforts with the country’s long-term goals.
