Zomato's Ritual Takes on Swiggy with High-Protein Cloud Kitchen Launch
Zomato has entered the health food market with a new cloud kitchen brand called Ritual. The service launched in Gurugram and focuses on high-protein meals and drinks. This move puts Zomato in direct competition with Swiggy's EatRight category, which has been expanding rapidly across India.
Ritual offers a menu packed with protein-rich options, including plant-based shakes, whey protein drinks, and protein milkshakes. The brand also serves salads aimed at fitness-conscious customers. Zomato has taken charge of designing the recipes, while Massive Restaurants handles day-to-day operations under its FSSAI licence.
The launch follows Swiggy's push into health food with EatRight, which began in January 2024. Since then, Swiggy has grown the category to cover major cities like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad by early 2026. Zomato's Ritual appears to be a response to this expansion, targeting the same audience of health-aware consumers.
Ritual is part of Zomato's broader test of a nutrition-focused food vertical. The company is exploring ways to stand out in a crowded market by offering specialised, health-driven meals from existing restaurant partners.
Ritual's arrival marks Zomato's latest effort to capture a share of the growing health food sector. With Swiggy's EatRight already established in multiple cities, the competition for protein-focused and low-calorie meal options is set to intensify. The success of Ritual could influence Zomato's future strategy in the nutrition space.
