Ihringen Wine Festival opens with minor incidents and swift emergency responses

Thousands of visitors gathered for the opening weekend of the Ihringen Wine Festival. While most enjoyed the celebrations without issue, emergency teams remained on standby to handle incidents as they arose. The festival ran smoothly for the majority of attendees. Volunteer first responders from the German Red Cross (DRK) in Ihringen-Wasenweiler treated 13 cases on-site, mostly minor injuries like cuts from broken glass or falls. In total, 22 people sought their assistance over the weekend.

A more serious incident occurred when a car carrying festivalgoers flipped over on the district road toward Gündlingen. Five ambulances, two emergency physicians, firefighters, and police rushed to the scene. All five occupants suffered only minor injuries and were taken to hospital for further checks. Beyond medical support, local DRK members also helped run the festival. They served food, cake, and drinks to visitors at the DRK Wine Festival Pavilion. The organisation later commended the smooth teamwork between all emergency services involved.

The festival concluded with most visitors enjoying the event without major disruption. Emergency services handled incidents efficiently, ensuring quick responses when needed. The DRK highlighted the successful coordination that kept the event safe for all attendees.
