Emergent BioSolutions secures $200M+ in global biodefense contracts

Emergent BioSolutions has landed several major contracts to bolster global biodefence efforts. The company recently secured a $54 million deal with the US government for its smallpox treatment, CNJ-016. Additional agreements with Canada and an unnamed international partner further expand its role in pandemic preparedness.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through ASPR, awarded Emergent a $54 million contract for CNJ-016. This smallpox treatment will form part of the country's ongoing biodefence stockpile.

Separately, the company has also received new orders worth $6.6 million for its ACAM2000 smallpox vaccine. An international government partner placed the order as part of its broader biodefence strategy, though specific long-term plans remain undisclosed. Beyond these deals, Emergent has signed multi-year agreements with the Government of Canada. Valued at up to C$140 million, the contracts aim to strengthen Canada's ability to respond to biological threats. The agreements cover both preparedness and infrastructure development.

These contracts highlight Emergent BioSolutions' growing influence in global biodefence. The US, Canada, and an international partner have all invested in its smallpox treatments and vaccines. The deals ensure continued supply and support for pandemic response efforts worldwide.
