General Mingus to Lead Webinar on Army's Holistic Fitness Revolution
General James Mingus will lead an online discussion on the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness programme on 24 September. The free webinar, hosted by the Association of the U.S. Army, requires registration to attend. Mingus brings decades of experience, having commanded elite units and served as the Army’s vice chief of staff since January 2024. Mingus began his military career in December 1981, enlisting in the Iowa National Guard. By 1985, he had earned his commission and went on to serve in key roles, including the 82nd Airborne Division, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and the 4th Infantry Division. He later became director of the Joint Staff before assuming his current position.
The Holistic Health and Fitness programme aims to boost soldier readiness by combining physical, mental, sleep, nutritional, and spiritual training. During the webinar, Mingus will explain how the initiative improves performance across these areas. A new qualification will be introduced for non-commissioned officers specialising in human performance at brigade level. A pilot course is also planned to train NCOs in risk assessment and customised unit training. The session starts at noon Eastern Time and is open to all registered participants.
The webinar highlights the Army’s push to modernise soldier training through integrated health strategies. Mingus’s leadership and the new NCO qualification reflect a broader effort to enhance unit effectiveness. Registration details are available through the Association of the U.S. Army’s website.
